Valley Space Privacy Policy
Valley Space is a note-taking app for iPhone that turns what you write into a private second brain. It is built by Elvis Kimara. This policy explains what the app handles, where it goes, and your choices.
The short version
- Your notes live on your phone. You can use every core feature without an account.
- An account is optional. It exists to connect the app to a relay you run on your own computer, and to keep an optional copy of your notes.
- There are no ads, no analytics, and no tracking in Valley Space.
On your phone
Notes, the second-brain map built from them, your Today plans, tasks and reminders are stored on your iPhone. Sorting and search run on the device. The first time the app needs its on-device language model, it downloads the open-source all-MiniLM-L6-v2 model from Hugging Face. That download sends nothing you have written.
Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your phone. Valley Space does not use push notifications.
If you create an account
You can sign in with Apple or Google. Sign-in is handled by Google Firebase Authentication. We store your account identifier, your email address, your name as provided by Apple or Google, and which of the two you used.
Relay. When you ask a question or request a plan through a relay, the question and the relevant excerpts of your notes are written to your account in Google Cloud Firestore, picked up by the computer you run the relay on, answered there, and deleted once the answer reaches your phone. Only a phone signed in to your account can read these records; the relay reads them with the project’s service credentials for your account only.
Note sync. If you turn on “Sync notes to my account”, a copy of your notes is kept in your account in Google Cloud Firestore so tools you connect can read and write them. It is off by default, and turning it off stops updating the copy.
Your own Anthropic key
You can add your own Anthropic API key. It is stored in the iOS Keychain on your phone. When you ask a question with a key, the question and relevant excerpts of your notes are sent directly from your phone to Anthropic’s API under your key, and are handled under Anthropic’s terms and privacy policy. We never receive them.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not show ads or use advertising or analytics SDKs.
- We do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
- We do not access your contacts, photos or location.
Deleting your data
In the app. Open Settings, sign in if needed, and tap Delete account. This permanently deletes your sign-in account, your profile, your relay connection and any pending questions, and the synced copy of your notes. Deletion happens immediately.
On your phone. Notes stored only on your phone are not part of your account. Delete them in the app, or delete the app to remove them.
If you cannot use the app, email hello@efficiency.dev from the address your account uses and we will delete it within 30 days. See how to delete your account.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit to Firebase and Anthropic. Records in your account are readable only by a phone signed in as you, enforced by server-side security rules.
Children
Valley Space is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We will update this page when the app changes how it handles data. The date above shows the latest revision.
